I just found out about the affair. Where do I even start?
Start with a free consultation — a short, no-pressure call where you can tell me as much or as little as you're ready to. In our first sessions, we focus on steadying you: the sleepless nights, the anxiety, the thoughts that won't stop. You don't need a plan for your whole future before you begin. You just need a place to land.
Is what I’m feeling normal?
Yes. Racing thoughts, checking his phone, trouble sleeping or eating, feeling numb one minute and furious the next — these are common responses to betrayal trauma. You're not "too sensitive," and you're not losing it. Your nervous system is responding to a real shock, and it can settle again with the right support.
Do I have to decide whether to stay or leave before starting therapy?
No — and you don't have to decide today. Many of the women I work with feel torn: they love him, they built a life together, and the unknown is frightening. Therapy gives you steady ground first. Decisions about your marriage come later, from a clearer place, and they stay yours to make.
Do you work with couples?
For betrayal recovery, I work individually with the betrayed partner. That's where this work goes deepest — your healing, your footing, your decisions. If couples work becomes part of your picture later, we can talk in session about what kind of support would fit.
What is EMDR, and can it help after betrayal?
EMDR is a well-researched therapy that helps your brain reprocess painful memories, so they stop feeling like they're happening right now — the mind movies, the triggers, the 2 a.m. spirals. It doesn't erase what happened; it takes away its power to run your days. I use EMDR often with clients healing from betrayal trauma, and I'm certified in it.
Will I have to talk through every detail of what happened?
No. EMDR doesn't require you to describe everything in detail, and in all of our work you stay in control of what you share and when. We go at your pace. Nothing happens in session that you haven't agreed to.
What is an EMDR mini intensive?
A mini intensive is a longer block of focused work — a half day or full day, sometimes across two days — instead of spreading the same work over many weekly sessions. It can be a good fit if weekly therapy feels too slow, or if your schedule makes weekly sessions hard. Ask about it in your consultation and we'll see whether it fits your situation.
Do you see clients in person or online?
Both. My office is in Montgomeryville, PA, and I also offer telehealth sessions anywhere in Pennsylvania. (For telehealth, you do need to be in Pennsylvania during our sessions — that's a licensing rule, not a preference.)
Do you accept insurance? What are your fees?
I'm a private-pay practice, so I don't bill insurance directly — that keeps your therapy fully private and lets us decide together how your care goes, without an insurer's limits. Individual sessions are $180/hour, and EMDR mini intensives are $200/hour. I can accept HSA cards for payment.
